Newborn Studio Session
Those first few weeks with your baby are such a blur, and they change so incredibly quickly. The tiny fingers, flaky skin, little stretches, sleepy expressions and the way they curl into you. These are the details I want you to remember long after the newborn stage has passed.
I’ve been a Canberra newborn photographer for over 13 years, photographing more than a thousand newborn babies throughout my career. I also train photographers around the world in newborn photography, including how to safely pose and photograph newborns. That experience means you can come into your session knowing your baby’s comfort and safety are always my priority.
My sessions are completely baby-led. I never force a baby into a position they aren’t comfortable in, and there is plenty of time for feeding, settling, cuddles and breaks whenever your baby needs them. Every baby is different, and your session will move at their pace.
When should I book my newborn session?
Most of the newborns I photograph are around 2 to 3 weeks old, but please don’t worry if your baby is older. I photograph 4, 5 and 6 week old babies all the time and we can still create a beautiful newborn gallery. If those early weeks have passed, you haven't missed your opportunity.
Newborn sessions take place in my commercial studio in Hall, Canberra, Monday to Thursday during the day, and generally take around 90 minutes.
How does booking work if I don't know when my baby will arrive?
When you book your newborn session, I use your due date to tentatively reserve your place. I only take on a certain number of newborns each month so I can keep enough flexibility in my calendar for babies arriving earlier or later than expected. Once your little one arrives, simply let me know and we’ll lock in the actual date and time for your session, usually within their first few weeks. There’s no need to worry about trying to predict exactly when your baby will arrive. Your place is already reserved for you.
My style is natural, neutral and timeless. Rather than following trends, I focus on your baby, their tiny features, beautiful details and all the little things that make them uniquely yours. I use soft neutral colours, beautiful textures and simple styling to create photographs you'll still love hanging in your home years from now.
Your newborn gallery isn't only about your baby. Family and sibling photographs are included in every package.vI know getting yourself photo ready so soon after having a baby can feel daunting, which is why I also have an extensive client wardrobe for mums and children, along with a selection of shirts for dads. You don't need to have everything figured out before you arrive. I'll help you through the entire process.
